FF The Bible

All Saints and St Richard’s are Bible-based churches and we encourage all members of the church family to take part in group and individual Bible study.

We all need a place to belong, but in a big church like All Saints it’s easy to get lost or coast along in the crowd. To live for God when times are hard and when times are easy we each need a group of people whom we can trust.  People who will watch out for us, remind us of God’s word and help us to go on living for Jesus Christ, so that we do not drift away. Home Groups are here to provide this and we aim to make it possible for everyone to belong.

Home Groups at All Saints and St Richard’s come in different shapes and sizes, and we will do our best to find one that suits you. Most meet fortnightly, except during August and the Christmas period, and usually alternate with the church prayer meetings. A smaller number meet weekly. All are centred on Bible study, prayer and fellowship. A list of current groups and times is posted on the Home Group notice-board at the back of All Saints. To find out more or to join a group contact Adam Thrift on 652081 ext 1003 or adam@allsaintscrowborough.org

Life Explored is an informal and relaxed seven-week course. It’s for anyone who wants to find contentment and happiness in life. It’s run by ordinary Christian people local to you and is completely free. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible, and you won’t be asked to pray or sing. You can ask any question you like, or you can just sit and listen.

Whoever you are, whatever you’re thinking, Life Explored is a place for you to discover the greatest gift in the universe.

To enrol or for further information please contact the Church Office on 652081 or office@allsaintscrowborough.org

Two further Bible-based courses are also available. Christianity Explored is an informal way to investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics. It explores who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. Discipleship Explored is an optional follow-on course for those who have completed Christianity Explored.

For daily reading of the Bible at home, most people find it helpful to use Bible Reading Notes. We specially recommend Explore. Booklets of notes can be ordered from the Book Centre, via the Church Office or by contacting Caroline Westwood on 07944 520328. Explore notes are also available as an app from the App Store or Google Play.

If you are looking for Online Bible Reading Notes we recommend WordLive – a website which offers multi-media Bible reading and options to deepen your relationship with God. Access it on www.wordlive.org

One2One Bible Reading Partnerships enable two members of the church family to read the Bible together weekly or fortnightly using a specially-prepared booklet. This can be particularly helpful for those who find reading the Bible on their own difficult or for those wanting help from a more experienced Christian. Pick up a brochure from the hanging leaflet racks by the pigeon-holes or speak to Mervyn Brown (663362) or Irena Morrison (652598).

An Encourager is a Christian friend, chosen by you or (if you prefer) by the leaders, who will support you and advise you as you seek to read the Bible regularly and learn from it. Many have found their Encourager invaluable in helping them keep going as Bible-reading Christians. The leaders are Edward and Carole Humphreys (662759).

The Women’s Bible Study takes place on alternate Thursday mornings in the Downstairs Rooms during term time from 9.15 to 10.30. It's a wonderful opportunity for women of all ages to meet together and encourage one another as we study God’s word. A crèche is available for those with small children. For more details contact Jenny Rees on jennyrees29@gmail.com

The Sussex Ministry Training Course (Tuesday each week in Haywards Heath) and the Saturday Morning Bible Training Course (Saturday mornings once a month in Lindfield) provide a stretching and exciting way of understanding the whole sweep of the Bible and learning how to explain it to others. For further details of any of these courses, speak to the Revd Steve Rees (652081 ext 1001).
